Shop Maxxx LLC runs on a single, slightly stubborn idea: sell one thing at a time, and know that thing completely.

Most seasonal shops list two hundred products and have handled none of them. We do the opposite. Each season we pick one accessory, order samples from every supplier we can find, wear them ourselves for a few weeks, and then either commit to one or start again. If nothing survives that, we sell nothing that season.

What we're selling right now

The 3D Halloween Embroidery Cap in the Ghost Lantern design. We looked at flat-print Halloween caps for most of a summer and kept putting them down — the artwork sits on the fabric rather than in it, and after two washes it cracks.

The cap we settled on is built differently. The ghost, the lantern, the moon and the floral work are all raised embroidery, stitched into a brushed cotton-blend crown, with pearl and rhinestone accents set by hand. It has weight to it. You can feel the design with your thumb.

We stock one style and one size. That is not a limitation we are apologising for — it is the whole point.

How we work

• One product, fully understood. We can answer any question about the cap because we own several.
• Inspected before dispatch. Every unit is checked for loose stitching, missing accents and strap function at our Chicago fulfilment desk.
• Honest stock counts. When we say fourteen are left, fourteen are left.
• Returns without an argument. Thirty days, prepaid label, no interrogation about why.

Who's behind it

A small team working out of a shared floor on North Riverside Plaza. Between us we have spent years in apparel sourcing and customer support, and both of those experiences taught the same lesson: the shops people come back to are the ones that pick up the phone.
